Top 5 Fernie Summer Activities
Fernie may be known for its winter activities and proximity to Fernie Alpine Resort, but don’t be fooled, our little town is an amazing in the summer time as well!
We often get asked to recommend Fernie Summer activities, so we thought we’d put our top 5 picks in one place! So here they are, in no particular order:
1. Float the Elk River
One of life’s simple pleasures is a leisurely float down the beautiful Elk River. Start at the north end of town (near Canadian Tire) and give yourself 1.5 - 2 hours to float through town all the way to the Stanford Hotel.
What to bring:
- A floating device (check out our awesome Floaty selection here!)
- A bathing suit (click here to shop Swim)
- Sun protection (we have a great selection of Sunscreen, Hats, and Sunglasses)
Safety note: make sure you find out about river conditions before you go! Log jams and high water can be very dangerous, and we don’t recommend floating without knowing what shape the river is in!! Click here to download the river map and plan your float!
2. Play Disc Golf at the Lizard Range Disc Golf Course
The Lizard Range Disc Golf Course in James White Park was established in 2004 and has been going strong ever since! Shaded by trees, this is a great option for those extra sunny days!
What to bring:
- Discs! We have a wide selection of Putt & Approach Discs, Mid-Range Discs, Fairway Driver Discs,
